Who are we?

Living in rainy Holland, content creator and full-time wanderer Benthe Liem realized that finding the perfect bikini for a trip to the tropics was a tough nut to crack. Especially during the low season. Being the visionary go-getter she is, this motivated her to take matters into her own hands.

Together with her partner in crime and life Isidoor van Esch, she established Butter & Hazel, the only Amsterdam-based swimwear brand blending Aussie cool girl vibes with French je ne sais quoi, providing beautifully crafted, high-quality swimwear pieces, that make adventurous women feel fierce and empowered. All year round.

We strive to be the most responsible version of ourselves and are committed to minimise our social and environmental impact. Besides the fact that all pieces are designed in Amsterdam with the intent to never go out of style and therefore last for years, they are ethically manufactured in Portugal from carefully curated Italian fabrics, some of which recycled. Additionally, our packaging is either recycled or biodegradable. Most EU orders are shipped with Responsible Delivery (CO2 neutral). Orders in some cities in The Netherlands will be delivered by bike (Fietskoerier). Our goal is to minimize waste, which is why we create limited collections. We sell each item until it is completely sold out, no item will go to waste. And as we want to ensure everyone feels welcome in the Butter & Hazel world, we offer a wide variety of sizes, ranging from XS to XXL.
